Two native New Yorkers, one from Long Island and one from Queens found each other over 20 years ago to begin a journey together. In 2024 they have come full circle. Fernando Pena and Suzanne Furboter have been on this journey for decades as life partners, husband and wife and as business partners. As long standing business owners in Queens, Fern and Sue have been an integral part of their neighborhood, running a business that was a community hub, employing people in the neighborhood and embracing their role in the fabric of the community.
Unfortunately, due to laws that were on the books in 2003, there were a few setbacks for Fern and Sue. After some time apart they were able to resume their life together and even open another successful business in their community. Fast forward to 2020 and everything shut down. We all know it, we were all there. Doors shuttered.
New doors are opening. Fern and Sue, as a couple, were awarded one of the first licenses via the CAURD program. As advocates for women owned businesses, justice reform and social equity, Fern and Sue are beginning the next phase of their journey. To be true representatives of New York state government working for it’s people and the decriminalization of cannabis.
As the doors of Late Bloomers open, you are welcome here. Fern and Sue are with you on this journey, this is a new beginning for them as well. This space is intended for all, the newly introduced to the experienced aficionado. No matter where you are in life, no matter what time it is, you are right on time at Late Bloomers.
